Patrons
Our patrons lend their name and support to LHOPS because they believe every child deserves the same start, whatever their family is going through. They help us reach further into the community, open doors we couldn't open alone, and remind families in Sherborne and the surrounding villages that they're not forgotten.

Julian Fellowes
I grew up in an ordered sort of way, with bedtimes and nurseries, and ponies and birthday cakes, and as far as I knew, all other children were doing much the same. But of course they weren't.
As I know now, a stable and affectionate childhood increases one's chances of career and personal success later in life, but many children have to struggle through as best they can, without any such help.
Unfortunately, I was ignorant then, and I imbibed it all unthinkingly, probably without any real sense of the privileges I was enjoying.
At the time, I took it all as normal and never questioned my rights. Sadly, life has taught me how lucky I was, and how many children are forced to live in chaos, or at least deprivation, with inadequate diets, lack of routine, insufficient love and, most of all, without being able to take any comfort or stability for granted.
Of course, no charity can hope to compensate for all that is missing in such lives, but at least this one tries, to bring some order, some nourishment, some comfort, some pleasure, where it is sorely needed.
As we all know, care in childhood can make a real difference to the years that lie ahead, so I hope others will join me in doing what we can.

Lord-Lieutenant Michael Dooley
I am deeply honoured to become Patron of LHOPS. This is a wonderful charity that brings hope, dignity and opportunity to children and families when they need it most.
Creating harmony in our communities begins by ensuring every child feels valued, included and able to fulfil their potential. When we support one another, we strengthen not only individual lives but the whole community. I want to be an active Patron, not simply lending my name, but giving my time, energy and support to help this remarkable charity grow, raise awareness of its vital work and inspire others to become involved.
I look forward to working alongside the trustees, volunteers, schools and supporters to ensure that even more local children and families receive the help they need and deserve.
